Mbala District Electoral Officer, Laura Munkanta has commended political parties in the district for their cooperation ahead of filling in nominations for the Mayoral seat tomorrow.

Ms Munkanta has since encouraged all political parties to ensure that their polling agents are accredited before the end of the day to allow them access to the nomination centre.

The District Electoral Officer said this when she addressed members of the District Liaison Committee during a meeting held at Grasshopper Inn today.

She disclosed that accredited election agents were briefed on Monday to acquaint them with the dos and don’ts of the electoral process.

“I commend all political parties and candidates for maintaining peace during this period, and I urge you to continue adhering to the electoral guidelines as we approach nominations and polling day,” Ms Munkanta said.

“Let us all ensure that our agents are accredited, this will allow them to have access to the nomination centre, and polling stations when that time comes,” she added.

Meanwhile, Ms Munkanta has disclosed that voter education facilitators have been trained and deployed in all the nine wards.

“We are ready for this election, apart from these engagements, i can also confirm that District Voter Education Facilitators have been trained and deployed in all the nine wards,” she said.

The meeting was convened to update key stakeholders, including political party chairpersons, independent candidates and their representatives, on the remaining electoral processes leading up to polling day.
