WE SHOULD MAINTAIN OCTOBER 18TH SEPARATELY- SILAVWE
09th October, 2026.
I have received the merging of the ‘National Day of Prayer and Fasting’ to the Declaration of Zambia as a ‘Christian Nation’ in December with reservations.
Mixed in the sense that, I have supported both the Day of National Prayer and Declaration to the hilt. In our view, October 18th, should remain as it is.
1. December 29th, is equivalent to a spiritual ancient landmark of our Nation. It covers even those of different faith’s.
2. October 18th, is the actualisation of the declaration as a Christian Nation.
3. October remains a significant month in the life of our Nation. It’s a season of independence best suited for repentance and reconciliation.
4. October 18th, is best positioned at the onset of our Country’s rainy season. Ideal to offer prayer for fruitfulness in these unpredictable weather patterns.
The recent political events in our Nation deeply warrant a separate National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation.
The National Day of Prayer and the Christian Declaration should be maintained separately with full Government funding.
