NO NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WHILE MUNDUBILE, MAKEBI ZULU REMAIN INCARCERATED – DAVIES MWILA

BM8/ECL national chairperson Davies Mwila says calls for national unity and reconciliation will remain doubtful as long as opposition figures Brian Mundubile,  Makebi Zulu and others remain incarcerated.

Mr Mwila was responding to President Hakainde Hichilema’s call for National unity following the conclusion of the elections.

He said genuine reconciliation must begin with the release of those political opponents who are allegedly being given tramped up charges.

“You will recall Mr President that when you were detained at Mukobeko, there was no reconciliation until you were released by government. We hope that this reconciliation must be started by government,” he said.

He said the country is currently divded and urged the President to bring all political players together in the interest of national unity.

“The entire country is divided, and when it is divided, you cannot rule in a normal way. What we call for is that bring everybody together and reconcile so that we come together as one Zambia, one nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwila has insisted that a commission of inquiry be set up to look into the death of former Cabinet Minister Mutotwe Kafwaya.

He said he expected the President to talk about this matter involving a former Govermment official.

“We still insist that an independent commission of inquiry be established so that Zambian people be able to know what transpired,” he said.

And Mr Mwila had expressed concern over the government’s decision to do away with 18th October as the day of National Prayer without giving any  satisfactory explanation.

“Government has resolved to shift the date of prayers from October 18 to December without giving any proper reasons.. we thought that the word of God comes first and these others come second. We feel Matters of faith should be given priority,” he said.
