General News 1 min.Read Completion of Ablution construction elates Lavushimanda DC By Kevin Kabwe October 6, 2026 FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsAppLavushimanda Town Council Secretary, Jonas Mwendakawa has disclosed that an ablution block being constructed in Mupamadzi Ward of the district in Muchinga Province by the Government under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP) at a total cost of 709,000 Kwacha has been completed.
Speaking during a monitoring visit to the project site, Mr Mwendakawa expressed excitement with the commitment from the contractor for completing the project within a short period of time.
Mr Mwendakawa said the ablution block has been completed in two months instead of the initial four-month contract period.
He explained that it is the first time to see a contractor who is so committed to completing a project on time, noting that most contractors take a long time to complete projects.
“It is very exciting for me to see that we have contractors that are so serious and dedicated that they are able to work on the projects in a very short period of time,” he said.
Mr Mwendakawa added that the ablution block has been completed and is ready for commissioning and public use.
He further urged other contractors engaged under the ZDSP to emulate the good work demonstrated by the contractor who constructed the Mupamadzi community ablution block.
Meanwhile, Lavushimanda Town Council Assistant Director for Engineering, Ivwananji Sipula said the contractor has met the required standards for the project, as assessed by the engineers.
Mr Sipula explained that the contractor has achieved a good balance between the speed and quality of work, unlike some projects where the quality is compromised when contractors rush construction works.
“The quality of work by the contractor has met the standards required by the engineers and we are happy that the project has been delivered in good time,” he said.
And Area Headwoman in Mupamadzi Ward, Belina Miselo, has thanked the Government for the development, saying it should continue implementing such developmental projects.
Ms Miselo said the people of Mupamadzi are grateful for what President Hakainde Hichilema has done for them.
“We are so thankful to the government for these ablution blocks. We never expected that the government could do this for us,” she said.
