Makeni Member of Parliament, Beene Hachoombwa, has called on stakeholders to embrace unity in fostering development in the district.

Mr Hachoombwa notes that unity is key to development.

The Member of Parliament was reacting to the First Session of the 14th National Assembly Presidential Speech delivered by President Hakainde Hichilema.

“The President has emphasized that we must unite as a country, and so let us put politics aside because development does not look at which political party you belong to, and hunger also does not look at where you come from, so now it’s time to work,” he advised.

Mr Hachoombwa added that all stakeholders in developing the district must take a leading role in taking up the task.

Commenting on democracy as highlighted in the Presidential speech, Mr Hachoombwa said it is important that Zambians and Lusaka residents in particular, must be aware of the laws that govern the nation.

Mr Hachoombwa cautioned the local residents and all responsible citizens to desist from abusing their democratic rights.

“We must make sure that we use the space we have such as facebook to preach love,” he said.

Mr Hachoombwa also said his constituency is tapping in the digitalization of activities.

He said there is no need to be dependent on things that are not moving, adding that the use of AI is needed to activate speed in the day to day operations.

Mr Hachoombwa said information and technology is key to development, hence the need for every stakeholder to embrace it.

“In line with the Presidential pronouncements, in Makeni, we have asked all public institutions to go digital and now we are looking at how the schools in the constituency will go digital to improve service delivery,” he said.
