Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a suspected attempt to steal 29 copper blisters from a truck parked along the Luanshya–Masangano Road.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner, Rae Hamoonga, says officers on motorised patrol found the truck parked off the road near Avic International at about 22:00 hours on Saturday, October 10 2026.

In a statement, Mr Hamoonga said the truck’s tarpaulin and ratchets had been cut and removed, and were found lying beside the vehicle.

Mr Hamoonga said investigations revealed that the Tanzanian driver had allegedly parked the truck there with the intention of stealing its consignment.

He said the driver fled the scene and remains at large.

Mr Hamoonga identified the arrested man as Edward Kulaisha of Mukolwe Village, under Chief Mushili in Ndola District.

He said Mr Kulaisha was reportedly employed to keep watch over the truck.

Police are searching for the driver as investigations continue.

Mr Hamoonga said further details would be released as police were still investigating the matter.
