KALUMBILA District Commissioner Brenda Sankisa has called on the District to work towards achieving an 87 percent education performance target and strive to become a leader in academic excellence.
Ms Sankisa says achieving the target requires collective commitment from teachers, school administrators, learners, parents and other education stakeholders.
Ms Sankisa was speaking during the commemoration of World Teachers’ Day in Kalumbila on Monday under the theme, ‘Standing with Teachers: 60 Years of Protecting the Profession, advancing its Status and Shaping our Futures.’
She noted that the District should strengthen instructional supervision, use learner-performance data to identify learning gaps, provide remedial teaching and improve literacy and numeracy.
Ms Sankisa also urged teachers to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability while rejecting examination malpractice, absenteeism, discrimination and abuse of authority.
And Kalumbila District Education Board Secretary Thompson Lungu said achieving the 87 percent target will require every school to embrace professionalism, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
