Legal Assistant Recruitment Advert Delta Auto & Equipment Ltd Location Lusaka Zambia Department Legal Reports to Company Lawyer / Head of Legal Employment type Full time Application deadline 16th October, 2026 About the Role Delta Auto & Equipment Ltd is seeking an organised, dependable and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support its legal function. The successful candidate will assist with legal research, document preparation, correspondence, records management and the coordination of legal matters. This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgement and a high level of confidentiality. Key Duties and Responsibilities Legal Research and Document Preparation Conduct preliminary research on legislation, case law and other matters assigned by the supervising lawyer. Prepare research summaries, background information and supporting documents for review. Assist with drafting, formatting, transcribing and proofreading contracts, letters, notices, reports and other legal documents. Check documents for accuracy, completeness and consistency before submission for approval. Contracts and Commercial Support Assist with preparing and maintaining sales agreements, supplier agreements and other company contracts. Maintain a contract register and track renewal dates, outstanding signatures and key deadlines. Coordinate the collection of documents and information required for contract reviews. Assist with documentation relating to customer disputes, outstanding payments and other commercial matters under the lawyer’s direction. Case and Records Management Maintain organised, accurate and up-to-date physical and electronic legal files. Organise documents for court filing, meetings and other legal proceedings as instructed. Track case progress, court dates, filing deadlines and required follow-up actions. Liaise with external lawyers, court registries and relevant institutions when authorised. Maintain registers of legal correspondence, contracts and ongoing matters. Communication and Administration Communicate professionally with clients, employees, suppliers and other stakeholders. Obtain factual information and supporting documents for the lawyer’s review. Schedule appointments, meetings and court-related engagements. Attend meetings when required, take accurate minutes and follow up on assigned actions. Assist with scanning, copying, filing, correspondence and processing legal invoices. Prepare routine progress updates on assigned matters. Confidentiality and Professional Conduct Handle sensitive company, client and employee information with discretion. Follow company procedures for document access, storage and record keeping. Refer requests for legal advice and decisions requiring legal judgement to the supervising lawyer. Perform other reasonable duties related to the role. Qualifications and Experience Diploma or degree in Law, Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution. At least one year of relevant experience in a legal department, law firm or similar support role. Experience in legal research, document preparation, file management and professional correspondence. Familiarity with Zambian legal processes and court filing procedures would be an advantage. Experience supporting commercial contracts, debt recovery or corporate legal matters would be an added advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and electronic document management. Skills and Personal Attributes Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail. Good organisational, proofreading and time-management skills. Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work independently on assigned tasks. Professionalism, integrity and respect for confidentiality.
