GSIX REVEALS US$220K WICKNELL GWANDA SOLAR DEAL — THEN CAME THE US$100K SHOE SPREE
Sir Wicknell Chivayo’s younger brother, GSix, has revealed that he gave the late businessman US$220,000 to finalise documentation for the Gwanda Solar Project, with Chivayo promising to pay him US$1 million after receiving a US$5 million payout from ZESA.
GSix said he sold all his cars from his vehicle sales business to assist Sir Wicknell. They prayed for three years for the solar project, he said.
Speaking at a funeral service this morning, GSix said that after the deal went through, Chivayo travelled to Dubai, where he spent about US$100,000 on shoes, before travelling to the United States.
“He wasn’t answering my calls until after two weeks, when he got back,” GSix said.
According to GSix, Chivayo later offered him a BMW X6 worth US$400,000.
GSix also paid tribute to his late brother, describing him as a hardworking man who loved his family.
