Former Catholic Priest Frank Bwalya, says he will take legal action against a Kitwe based Catholic priest and report him to police for alleged cyber bullying, saying the priest has been posting malicious content aimed at lowering his image.
Speaking during a media briefing, Mr. Bwalya, said Henry Tyola is the assistant priest at st Joseph Mukasa Parish in Kwacha Bulangililo.
Mr. Bwalya, said the priest has been posting malicious statements alleging that Mr. Bwalya is mad, stressing that the allegations being made against him are without basis and that those claiming he is mad appear to be doing so to provoke him into court where he intends to clear his name.
He clarified that his planned legal action targets one individual priest and not the Catholic church, saying he has no intention of criticizing Catholic priests and he should not be misunderstood as having insulted the Catholic priests, as he is pursuing only one individual priest.
Mr. Bwalya, said he believes that people in the church including the priest in question know the he is not mentally ill but the priest has continued to post on social media claiming that the madness runs in the family.
He narrated that he had tried to engage the priest privately despite having messages on his phone in which the priest was allegedly insulting him and had also spoken to atleast three priests to restrain the said priest from posting malicious statements.
He stressed that the decision is personal and not sponsored by the UPND, nor is it an agenda of the party.
He said politicians are often targets of unfair insults and abuse, and that he has tried to develop a thick skin and ignore such attacks and this is the first time in at least 15 years that he has felt forced to sue someone, let alone a Catholic priest.
He said he has tried to build a name for himself and is well known on the Copperbelt and beyond, but is even more known in Kitwe, adding that time has come for him to act.
Meanwhile, Kwacha Bulangililo st Joseph Mukasa Parish priest Henry Tyola has denied the allegations.
