UPND Member of Parliament Judith Kabemba has urged female lawmakers to use their increased representation in Parliament to champion legislation and policies that support the Grow Zambia Agenda.

Ms. Kabemba says women Members of Parliament should ensure their increased presence in the National Assembly translates into practical solutions for challenges affecting women, young people and other vulnerable groups.

She says constitutional reforms that expanded representation have created greater opportunities for women to participate in national decision-making, with 62 women now serving in Parliament, representing 23 percent of the legislature.

Ms. Kabemba says female legislators should advance reforms that improve access to capital, land, markets and business opportunities, particularly for women involved in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Ms. Kabemba also called for legislation and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening protection against gender-based violence.

She further encouraged women and other marginalised groups to take advantage of available financing opportunities, including the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and other empowerment initiatives.

Ms. Kabemba says beneficiaries should actively participate in farming and other income-generating activities to improve livelihoods and contribute to economic growth.

She has also urged political players to move beyond the 2026 General Elections and focus on national development.

Ms. Kabemba cautioned that political divisions and tribal rhetoric could divert attention from opportunities available to citizens and undermine development efforts.
