The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has alerted consumers to a voluntary safety recall affecting Isuzu RG19 motor vehicles supplied to the Zambian market.

In a media statement in Lusaka today, CCPC Senior Public Relations Officer Florence M. Zaza advanced that the recall was initiated by Isuzu Motors South Africa (Pty) Ltd under Field Action 26FSL0080.

Zaza stated that the recall affects vehicles falling within the sales period of 11th May 2026 to 3rd July 2026.

She added that there is a possibility that the brake pedal pivot pin may have excessive free play or movement.

Zaza observed that if this occurs, the brake pedal may move laterally during application, which could make it more difficult for the driver to fully depress the brake pedal.

She noted that this could potentially reduce braking performance when attempting to stop the vehicle.

Zaza said that IMSAf has initiated the recall as a precautionary product safety measure.

She affirmed that, as at the date of its notification to CCPC, IMSAf was not aware of any injuries or damage associated with the identified condition.

Zaza stated that those affected will receive a written notification from Isuzu and their vehicles will be inspected.

She added that where necessary, corrective action will be undertaken through the relevant authorised Isuzu dealer or service facility in Zambia.

Zaza observed that CCPC is urging consumers who own Isuzu RG19 vehicles purchased within the stated period to contact an authorised Isuzu dealer.

She noted that CCPC remains committed to safeguarding the interests and safety of consumers and will continue to monitor the implementation of product safety recalls in Zambia.
