20 Years After Losing Her Father in a Military Plane Crash, She Loses Husband of Two Weeks in Similar Tragedy

Tragedy has struck twice for Nigerian Air Force officer Flight Lieutenant Damilola Adekunle, who lost her father in a military plane crash in 2006 and on Monday, October 5, lost her husband just two weeks into their marriage.

Damilola’s husband, Squadron Leader Ahamefule Aham Man-Ugwueje, was among the Nigerian Air Force pilots killed when an aircraft crashed in Ondo State.

Man-Ugwueje and Damilola got married on September 19, 2026.

According to Nigerian media reports, Man-Ugwueje died just 16 days after their wedding.

The crash claimed the lives of all 25 people on board.

Damilola is now mourning her husband, nearly two decades after losing her father in a similar tragedy.
