The 2026 transitional Super Division campaign will kick off on Saturday, 3rd October, with defending champions Power Dynamos facing Konkola Blades in a seemingly unpredictable fixture at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.

It was at Konkola Stadium where Power were confirmed league winners last season after edging Blades 2-1 in May.

Power and Konkola will face off in one of the five Stream A matches.

Power coach Oswald Mutapa said the Arthur Davies side must show the character of champions.

“It is important that we start on a positive note. We are champions so we have to show why we are champions,” Mutapa said in a pre-match comment.

“It won’t be an easy game, Konkola Stadium is a very difficult ground to go to but I feel we should be able to get the result,” he said.

Konkola coach Beston Chambeshi is pleased with his team’s preparedness for the new campaign.

“I think the team is ready for the season. The team is intact,” Chambeshi said.

“It is good we are starting with a team of Power’s calibre. We are playing in the same league with Power. Playing champions gives morale and confidence to our players,” he said.

Meanwhile, Power’s Kitwe rivals Nkana will tackle promoted side Trident away at Sentinel Ground.

Trident coach Kebby Hachipuka has declared that his team does not fear Nkana, the 13-time top league kings.

“Nkana is one of the biggest teams in Zambia, but we are not scared of them. We give them respect but we cannot be intimidated,” Hachipuka said.

Nkana coach Elijah Tana is seeking a positive start to the new campaign.

“The preparations went on well. Players have been putting in 100 percent in training,” Tana said.

“It is not an easy game but we have planned for it,” he said.
