The facilitators were trained alongside members of the District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) to prepare them for voter education and sensitisation activities across six wards.
Acting District Electoral Officer, Keith Kuchaya urged the facilitators to adhere to the ECZ Electoral Code of Conduct and conduct their duties in a professional, respectful and non-partisan manner.
Mr Kuchaya said the facilitators should ensure that voters were adequately informed about the electoral process, particularly the correct way of marking ballot papers.
He also urged the VEFs to be respectful and considerate when engaging members of the public during the voter education exercise.
Meanwhile, DVEC chairperson Cannan Soko said the Committee has put in measures to ensure that voter education reaches all parts of Lumezi North.
Mr Soko said the committee would go an extra mile to ensure that people in all six wards were sensitised on the electoral process in an effort to reduce the number of rejected ballot papers.
“As DVEC, we will go the extra mile to ensure that we reach all parts of Lumezi North in the six wards to conduct voter education, as we target to have a high turnout and fewer rejected ballot papers,” he said.
And some of the trained facilitators have expressed readiness to undertake voter education ahead of the by-election.
One of the facilitators, Mwaka Namfukwe, said the training had been insightful and equipped them with the knowledge needed to effectively sensitise voters.
Ms Namfukwe told the media that the facilitators were ready to engage voters and provide them with information on the electoral process ahead of the November 5 poll.
Another facilitator, Gift Sakala, also expressed readiness to contribute to the voter education exercise.
The Lumezi North parliamentary by-election is scheduled for 5th November 2026. The elections could not be conducted during the August 13 general elections after one of the nominated candidates passed on.
