Zambia and China have signed an Exchange of Notes for the construction of an office building at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Headquarters in Lusaka.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, and Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Han Jing, signed on behalf of their respective countries.

The project will be financed under the Government Grant provided for in the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the two countries signed on June 24, 2019.

The new building will have a total floor area of approximately 8, 824 square facilities including conference and auxiliary functional spaces.

Under the agreement, the Chinese Government will construct the facility, while providing the necessary furniture when construction is complete.

Zambia, on the other hand, will provide maintenance of the facility following the completion and handover of the project.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Haimbe said the implementation of the project is in line with the government’s economic diplomatic policy.

And Mr Han, noted that the project demonstrates the friendship the two countries have enjoyed for decades.
