Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) has advised passengers travelling through Zambian airports to allow extra time for airport procedures following the introduction of heightened security measures that may lead to longer waiting times.

In a media release issued on Friday, October 9, 2026, ZACL apologised to passengers and members of the public for possible delays arising from enhanced security measures currently in place at airports.

The Corporation said the measures are necessary to safeguard passengers, airport users, staff and airport operations, warning that travellers may experience longer processing times at security screening points and other airport access areas.

Passengers have therefore been urged to plan their journeys carefully and ensure they arrive at the airport early enough to complete check-in, security screening and other departure formalities without unnecessary pressure.

According to ZACL, passengers travelling on international flights should arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure, while those travelling on domestic flights are advised to arrive at least two hours before departure.

The guidance is intended to give travellers sufficient time to complete the required procedures amid the heightened security measures.

The Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safe, secure and efficient airport operations while facilitating passenger movement through its facilities.

ZACL manages Zambia’s four designated international airports: Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola, Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone, and Mfuwe Airport. Its responsibilities also include managing aerodromes and providing air navigation services within Zambian airspace.

Travellers are encouraged to plan their transport to the airport in advance, check their flight details and follow instructions from airport personnel to minimise the risk of missing their flights because of longer processing times.

Passengers can visit the official ZACL website at www.zacl.co.zm for updates and further information.

With enhanced security measures in place, the Corporation’s advice is clear: travellers should allow extra time, arrive according to the recommended check-in schedule and be prepared for possible delays at airport security checkpoints.
