The 2026 Transition Super League enters match day two this weekend with seven teams looking to maintain their perfect start after winning their opening fixtures.

Nkana, Roan United, Konkola Blades, Green Eagles, Zanaco, Red Arrows and Green Buffaloes all picked up maximum points on day one and will be eager to build momentum in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive transitional campaign.

The pick of the weekend fixtures is in Stream B, where early pace-setters Green Eagles face a stern test against former league champions Zesco United at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola.

Eagles, under Coach Perry Mutapa, announced themselves as early contenders with an emphatic 4-1 away victory over Mufulira Wanderers at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira. That result, the biggest win of the opening weekend, sent a strong statement of intent.

However, Zesco United will provide a different proposition. Smarting from a 1-1 draw away to Kabwe Warriors last week, Zega Mambo are under pressure to collect their first three points and show their title credentials.

Mutapa is anticipating a difficult encounter against one of Zambia’s most decorated sides.

“We would like to keep the winning momentum going. We are playing a team that has done well in the last decade. This is going to be very big for us,” Mutapa said.

Zesco Coach Mwenya Chipepo was bullish, saying his side cannot afford another slip-up, especially at home.

“We are ready for the game against the Green Eagles. We will be playing at home; our supporters and officials need three points. So, we must win this match,” Chipepo said.

“This is like a cup final, you know Green Eagles is a good side and for them to beat Mighty Mufulira Wanderers away from home it means they are fighting for something big,” he added.

Elsewhere in Stream B, Roan United host Green Buffaloes in Luanshya, while Red Arrows entertain Mufulira Wanderers. Kabwe Warriors will be away to Mutondo Stars, and Nkwazi face Chirundu United.

In Stream A, attention shifts to Nkana Stadium where record 13-time Zambian champions Nkana host newly promoted Makeni All Stars.

Kalampa started their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Trident FC in Kalumbila and will be looking to make home advantage count.

Coach Elijah Tana has called on the Nkana faithful to turn up in numbers as his side seeks better fortunes this season after a mixed run last term.

“Our fans should always come in numbers. We are going to entertain them and give them a good game,” Tana said.

Tana said his side will not underrate the newcomers and will approach the match with the right mentality.

“We will not underrate them, we will go all-out attack,” he said.

Makeni All Stars, who earned promotion after an impressive campaign in the National League, have expressed excitement about facing the Kitwe giants.

“At Makeni All Stars FC, we believe that building a better future goes beyond the football pitch – it means investing in diverse sporting talent and uplifting our communities,” the club said in a statement on its official Facebook page.

Other Stream A fixtures see FC Muza taking on Kansanshi Dynamos and Trident hosting Napsa Stars on Saturday, while on Sunday Zanaco battle Konkola Blades and defending champions Power Dynamos host Nchanga Rangers.

For teams like Wanderers, Power Dynamos, Trident, Nchanga Rangers, Mutondo Stars and Nkwazi, who endured a disappointing start, this weekend presents a chance to bounce back and get their campaigns on track.
