Banda was declared duly elected after no other candidate filed nominations at the close of nominations today.
Elections in Lumezi North failed to take place during the August 13th General Election following the death of National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) parliamentary candidate Clement Mwale, which led to the nullification of the poll in the constituency.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) had set November 5th, 2026 as the date for the by-election.
With Banda going unopposed, the UPND retains Lumezi North, leaving Mandevu Constituency in Lusaka as the only contested parliamentary by-election slated for next month.
