THE DEAD DOCTOR WHO WALKS INSIDE UTH AFTER MIDNIGHT —
At 01:37 hours, a nurse at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) allegedly came face-to-face with a doctor who had been dead for years.
He was standing at the end of a dark corridor.
He wore a white coat stained with age, held a patient’s file beneath his arm and stared straight ahead as though he had just finished examining a patient.
The nurse froze.
She knew every doctor on duty that night.
But she had never seen this man before.
Then he began walking towards her.
Or so she thought.
Without looking at her, the doctor walked past, his shoes tapping softly against the hospital floor.
As he passed, he asked a question that would haunt her long after that night.
“Where is patient 17?”
She turned to answer.
But the doctor was already walking away.
And when she followed him to find out which ward he was heading to, she discovered something that made her blood run cold.
Nobody on duty had seen him enter the hospital.
Worse still, an older nurse who heard the description of the mysterious man reportedly recognised him immediately.
She claimed he was a doctor who had worked at UTH many years earlier.
A doctor who had died.
So who was the man walking through the hospital corridors after midnight?
And why was he still looking for a patient he had treated before his death?
According to the chilling tale, it all began with a nurse named Chanda.
It was shortly after 01:30 hours when Chanda, returning from one of the wards, noticed a doctor walking ahead of her. At first, she thought nothing of it. Doctors often moved between wards during night shifts.
But as she drew closer, she noticed his white coat looked unusually old. He was carrying a patient’s file and walking with the quiet determination of someone who still had work to finish.
Chanda called out.
“Doctor?”
The man stopped and turned slightly.
“Which ward is patient 17 in?” he asked.
Chanda pointed towards the next corridor.
“Ward 3.”
The doctor nodded and continued walking.
Something about the encounter unsettled her. She followed him towards Ward 3, intending to ask her colleagues whether they knew who he was.
When she arrived, she asked if a doctor carrying a file had just come through looking for patient 17.
One of the nurses frowned.
“What doctor?”
Chanda described the man.
The nurses exchanged glances. An older nurse listened without interrupting, her expression changing with every detail.
Then she asked one question.
“Did he have a small scar above his eyebrow?”
Chanda nodded.
The room fell silent.
The older nurse reportedly explained that a doctor matching that description had worked at UTH many years earlier. He was known for conducting late-night rounds but had eventually died after falling ill.
Chanda refused to believe her.
Until the older nurse opened an old staff photograph on her phone.
The face in the photograph was the same face Chanda remembered from the corridor.
The same scar.
The same tired expression.
The same white coat.
Then came the detail that made the encounter even more disturbing.
The mysterious doctor had asked about patient 17.
According to the older nurse, patient 17 was the very patient he had been treating when he died.
Chanda asked what had happened to the patient.
The older nurse looked towards the corridor before answering.
“Go back to your ward.”
But three nights later, the doctor allegedly appeared again.
This time, he was heading towards the operating theatre.
And he was carrying a surgical mask.
Whatever had brought him back to UTH, it appeared he had not finished his work.
TO BE CONTINUED.
