Nkana coach Elijah Tana has promised more hard work after Kalampa maintained their perfect start to the 2026 MTN Super League Transitional season with a clinical 2-0 victory over Nchanga Rangers at Nkana Stadium in Wusakile on Sunday.
Experienced striker Lazarous Kambole opened the scoring before Patrick Gondwe added a second just before half-time to seal a dominant display for the 13-time Zambian champions.
Kambole’s opener was a moment of quality, coming after full-back Kedrick Mumba controlled the ball in his own half before releasing a fantastic assist for the veteran striker to finish.
Kalampa doubled their lead when skipper Harrison Chisala’s effort was parried by Rangers goalkeeper Victor Chabu straight into the path of Gondwe who made no mistake.
The victory takes Nkana to the top of Stream A with nine points from three matches, the only side with a 100 percent record in the transitional league.
Speaking after the match, Tana said his side executed their game plan perfectly but warned there will be no room for complacency.
“Our plan has worked, you saw we created a lot of chances. I am happy with the result but I always say we won’t relax,” Tana said.
“We will continue pushing until the end of the league. Nkana will fight until the final day of the season,” he added.
For Nchanga Rangers, the defeat deepens their crisis. Assistant Coach Israel Mwanza admitted Brave are under serious pressure after losing their first three matches.
“It was a tough game with high intensity. Nkana played a good game. We started at a slow pace and found ourselves down. The problem we have is that we are allowing early goals but our system is fine,” Mwanza said.
“Pressure is always there in football. We are really under pressure after losing games but we have to fight to come out of this situation. We will fight until the end of the season,” he said.
Nkana will now shift focus to a tricky away fixture against Konkola Blades at Konkola Stadium next Saturday, where Tana’s men will look to extend their perfect run.
