PRESIDENT HICHILEMA VOWS TO DEEPEN DEMOCRATIC REFORMS

President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his Government’s commitment to implementing democratic reforms aimed at strengthening Zambia’s democracy and consolidating its partnership with the European Union.

President Hichilema said this when he met a delegation from the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM), led by Chief Observer Michael McNamara, which observed the August 13 general elections.

The President thanked the Mission for its observations and recommendations, saying election observers played an important role in strengthening democratic governance

He also expressed appreciation for the delegation’s congratulatory message following his re-election.

“Election observers play a critical role in strengthening and deepening our democracy,” President Hichilema stated.

He said his administration would continue pursuing reforms to enhance democratic institutions and deepen cooperation with the European Union.

The President added that democratic governance remained central to his administration’s development priorities, stressing that “a flourishing democracy is key to our Grow Zambia Agenda.”
