While the Kitwe Derby stole the headlines, Konkola Blades quietly climbed to the top of Stream A – and Coach Beston Chambeshi has remained humble as his club makes headlines.

Blades moved to 12 points from five matches after a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Makeni All Stars in Lusaka on Sunday.

Biston Banda scored the decisive goal – his third of the season – to make him the league’s current top scorer.

The win puts Konkola one point clear of second-placed FC Muza, who were held to a goalless draw at Nchanga Rangers.

Speaking after the match, Chambeshi praised Makeni All Stars for a tough test.

“It was not an easy game. They played very good football, and we knew we had to take them seriously,” Chambeshi said.

“They are a young team, but they are in this league to compete like any other team.”

Blades have already shown giant-killing instincts this season, beating defending champions Power Dynamos, record 13-time champions Nkana and Zanaco.

The Chililabombwe side now turn their focus to Thursday, 5th November 2026, when they host Trident FC at Konkola Stadium.
