NEWLY ELECTED COUNCILLOR IN CHAVUMA DIES  AFTER WINNING ELECTION PETITION

Newly elected independent councillor for Chambi-Mandalo Ward, Solochi Charles has died shortly after successfully defending his election victory in court.

Mr. Solochi was elected during the August 2026 local government elections, but his victory was challenged in court by Michael Kalulu of the United Party for National Development (UPND).

Last week, the Zambezi Magistrate’s Court dismissed the election petition, allowing Mr. Solochi to retain his seat as councillor.

Circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been communicated by his family.
