 Nalolo District Commissioner, Namatama Mupo, has called on Heads of Departments (HODs) to take keen interest in national events.

Mrs Mupo says it is unfortunate that most Heads of Departments do not take national events seriously, as evidenced by their shunning of preparatory meetings.

She was speaking during an Independence Day Preparatory Meeting held at her office.

The District Commissioner wondered why the turnout was very low, despite communication about the meeting reaching everyone.

“It’s very sad that only five out of more than 15 departments attended the meeting,” Mrs Mupo said.

She has since advised all Heads of Departments and community member representatives to ensure that they attend the next meeting so that they can help in planning for the forthcoming Independence Day Celebration.

Mrs Mupo said it was the duty of every well-meaning Zambian to take keen interest in matters of the country.

This year’s Independence Day will be commemorated under the theme, “Zambia @ 62: Our Journey, Our Growth, Our Future.”
