MUSHIMBA SETS FIVE 100-DAY EXPECTATIONS FOR UPND GOVERNMENT

Dr. Mushimba said the first 100 days would provide an indication of how the new administration intends to shape Zambia’s destiny over the next five years.
He said Government should prioritise national unity and restore confidence in democratic institutions, particularly after what he described as a contentious election period.
“The Presidency should demonstrate that government belongs to all Zambians,” Dr. Mushimba said.
He called for a Cabinet based on competence, integrity, experience and measurable performance rather than political loyalty.
“Ministers should have clear performance targets,” he stated.
Dr. Mushimba further urged Government to place the cost of living at the centre of its agenda by addressing food prices, fuel, electricity, transport and household purchasing power.
“Economic growth means little if ordinary families cannot afford basic necessities,” he emphasised.
He also called for a clear economic recovery and job creation plan, including increased productive investment, energy security and value addition in the mining sector.
“How will Government ensure joblessness is tackled over the next five years?” he asked.
Dr. Mushimba said Government should provide citizens with a clear delivery timetable.
“Let’s make holding them accountable normal,” he stressed.
