The Zambia Rugby Union has awarded Red Arrows a 21-0 walkover victory over Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF) after KPF failed to show up for their rescheduled National League fixture.

According to the official league sheet as of 17th October 2026, the result is recorded as KPF 0-21 Arrows, with ZRU rules stating that a walkover attracts 4 points for a win plus 1 bonus point for four tries, while the defaulting team receives a -1-penalty point.

The decision has major implications for both ends of the table.

For Arrows, the walkover pushes them to 49 points from 12 games with 10 wins, keeping them firmly in contention for the title. They remain third but now have two games in hand on leaders Mufulira and Buffaloes.

Mufulira Leopards continue to lead the National League with 59 points from 14 games with 12 wins. The Leopards are one win away from clinching the 2026 title after beating Arrows 19-15 in September to open a 10-point lead earlier in the season. 70fe

Green Buffaloes are second with 50 points from 14 games.

For KPF, the penalty deepens a miserable season. The Kitwe side remains bottom of the eight-team National League with -1 point from 14 games (0 wins, 1 draw, 13 losses), having been deducted a total of 3 penalty points for no-shows. KPF remain the only team without a win this season. 70fe

Walkovers are not new in Zambian rugby. In previous seasons, KPF themselves benefited from a 21-0 walkover when Kansanshi failed to travel to Kitwe.

The ZRU is expected to maintain the result as final unless KPF successfully appeals.

In the Presidents League (Division Two), Lusaka leads with 36 points from 10 games, followed by Konkola with 35 and Nchanga with 33.

In the Women’s League, Buffaloes are unbeaten leaders with 48 points from 10 games, followed by Arrows with 32 points.

The National League resumes this weekend with Mufulira needing just a bonus-point win over KPF to be crowned champions.
