Rural News 1 min.Read Lusangazi residents advised on accessing 2027 CDF By Kevin Kabwe October 7, 2026 FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsAppLusangazi Central Member of Parliament, Douglas Lungu, has urged residents to form clubs and cooperatives to improve their chances of accessing grants and loans under the 2027 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) empowerment programmes.
Dr Lungu says organised groups would enable more residents to participate in government empowerment programmes and benefit from financial resources aimed at improving livelihoods.
He said this when he toured various trading places in the constituency to appreciate the challenges faced by local traders and explore possible interventions to support their businesses.
Dr Lungu said government is committed to providing citizens with resources to establish and expand income-generating activities, create employment and improve household incomes.
He, however, cautioned prospective beneficiaries against misusing CDF grants, urging them to use the funds strictly for the purposes stated in their applications.
Dr Lungu also advised beneficiaries of CDF loans to ensure that the funds were invested in the approved projects and repaid according to the agreed terms.
He explained that CDF loans were provided through a revolving fund, whereby repayments would enable other groups and cooperatives to access financial support.
“The loans must be used for the intended purpose and repaid as required because this is a revolving fund. When one group repays, another group will have an opportunity to benefit,” Dr Lungu said.
The lawmaker further stressed that responsible utilisation and timely repayment of loans were critical to ensuring that the empowerment programme benefited more residents.
He said the ultimate objective of government’s empowerment programmes was to reduce poverty, improve household incomes and promote economic self-reliance among citizens.
Meanwhile, Dr Lungu said the tour also provided an opportunity to engage traders and understand the challenges affecting their businesses at grassroot level.
He stated that active participation and responsible management of resources by beneficiaries were essential for the government empowerment programmes to achieve sustainable results.
