A Lusaka resident, Kay Bwalya, has called on Zambians to celebrate this year’s Independence Day in peace and unity as the country reflects on its journey and future.

Mr Bwalya says Independence Day is an important occasion that reminds citizens of the need to appreciate the freedom the country gained.

He says the celebrations should bring Zambians together, regardless of their differences, as they reflect on the country’s achievements and the future they want to build.

Mr Bwalya has also encouraged citizens to participate in the celebrations, stating that independence is something every Zambian should be proud of.

Meanwhile, another Lusaka resident, Evans Bangwa, has described independence as an important day that represents freedom, including freedom of speech.

Mr Bangwa, who is also a student at Apex, noted that he plans to celebrate this year’s Independence Day by spending time with friends.

He said the day provides an opportunity for citizens to enjoy the freedom the country gained.
