Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary, Max Choombe, says government continues to create an enabling environment for private sector participation and investment.
He said this in a speech read for him by Fisheries Assistant Director Danny Sinyinza during the launch of the Kamimbi Aqua Fish feed in Lusaka.
“Aqua culture production has increased in this country, over the past decade from 30,085 metric tonnes in 2016 and to over 100,000 metric tonnes in 2025, making Zambia a leading fish agriculture producer in Southern Africa,” Dr Choombe said.
Dr Choombe commended Kamimbi Aqua Feed for its continued investment in feed production and innovation.
He further said the company’s contribution will continue to support the growth of both small scale and commercial fish farmers across the country.
And Kamimbi Fish Feed Managing Director, Oliver Clayton, said quality feed is significant in fish farming.
Mr Clayton said the company also ensures that the feed consists of the right nutrients.
“For us, it is a recommitment and re-investment in aquaculture in Zambia, it is a new beginning,” he said.
He added that beyond feed sales, the company invests in farmer training.
