Zambia will face Uganda on Thursday, 8th October 2026, at Hamz Nakivubo Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 Zambian time.
Zambia is seeking redemption after a disappointing 2026 WAFCON campaign as they face Uganda in the first leg of Round Two of the Olympic qualifiers.
US-based striker Prisca Chilufya said the Copper Queens will not underrate Uganda.
“The girls are already putting in work, so it seems the team is ready. We are just looking forward to correcting our mistakes from the WAFCON,” Chilufya said.
“Right now, our focus is on qualifying for the Olympics. The Olympics are a great competition. We are not underrating Uganda; Uganda has a good team. We are just focusing on the game and making sure that we win the first game,” she said.
Denmark-based striker Mercy Chipasula branded the encounter a must-win.
“The game won’t be easy, so we are not underrating Uganda. We just need to win here and finish the game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. Our target is to win and of course that will come with hard work. We want to win for our supporters,” Chipasula said.
And Captain Barbra Banda said qualifying for the Olympics is not negotiable.
“We are taking this game seriously. We need to qualify for the Olympics. We know how important it is to go to the Olympics. It will be good if we qualify for the Olympics for a third time,” Banda said.
“Uganda has a very good side and we are not underrating them. Uganda are playing at home,” she added.
Zambia, who competed at the 2020 Olympics in Japan and the 2024 Games in France, is seeking a third appearance at the Olympic Games.
