Government says 761,666 out of a target of 1,024,434 small-scale farmers have already received their redeeming codes.
Delivering a ministerial statement in Parliament today on the update of farming inputs, Acting Minister of Agriculture, Situmbeko Musokotwane, says the progression rate represents 74 percent.
Dr Musokotwane stated that of those issued with codes, 670,371 farmers have successfully redeemed their inputs, accounting for 65 percent of the targeted beneficiaries.
He announced that significant progress has been recorded in the distribution of farming inputs for the 2026-2027 agricultural season.
He highlighted that the programme utilizes the e-voucher modality, which has been rolled out across all 116 districts in the country.
Dr Musokotwane explained that the system is designed to promote crop diversification, climate resilience, and increased private sector participation, ensuring the timely delivery of inputs such as fertilizer, maize seeds, and various crop protection chemicals.
He further revealed that to support the programme, his Ministry received 1,764 applications from potential agro-input suppliers, of which 805 have been approved to participate and distribute inputs in their respective districts.
The Acting Minister of Agriculture said the ministry continues to conduct training for both agro-dealers and staff at the provincial and district levels to ensure efficient programme implementation.
And Dr Musokotwane has said the government has integrated the Zambia Integrated Agriculture Management System (ZIAMS) with three mobile network operators to enhance service delivery and customer verification.
Dr Musokotwane added that ZIAMS has also been linked with the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) systems to facilitate better monitoring and support the national production target of 10 million metric tons.
He urged farmers who have not yet redeemed their inputs to do so promptly at participating agro-dealer outlets in their localities.
Dr Musokotwane further cautioned beneficiaries against sharing their secret codes with agro-dealers or any third parties.
“Farmers are urged to personally present their codes and ensure they receive the full entitlement of inputs due to them. Government remains committed to strengthening the systems and mechanisms that support our farmers,” Dr. Musokotwane stated.
