Record 13-time champions Nkana maintained their perfect start to the 2026 transitional Super Division season after thumping promoted side Makeni All Stars 4-1 at Nkana Stadium in Wusakile.

Kalampa, who came from behind to win on day two, now lead Stream A with six points from two matches, opening a two-point gap for at least 24 hours.

Makeni shocked the home crowd when they took an early lead after just eight minutes through Emmanuel Silomba’s strike that sent shivers through the stands.

But Nkana responded with Michael Chapota firing in the equalizer deep into first half stoppage time.

Experienced striker Lazarus Kambole was instrumental in the comeback, grabbing a brace to put the home side in control before enterprising attacker Nduna Zulu sealed the win with an 82nd minute goal that sent Nkana fans into wild celebrations.

Despite the emphatic scoreline, Nkana coach Elijah Tana described the match as tough.

“We planned for this game. I’m happy with the win. It was a tough match, you saw how Makeni played, they can actually frustrate you,” Tana said.

In Stream B, Green Eagles remained top of the table after stunning former champions Zesco United 1-0 away at Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola.

Striker Amity Shamende scored the decisive goal in the 74th minute to hand Eagles their second win in as many games.

Eagles coach Perry Mutapa said his game plan worked to perfection.

“I think the game plan worked to perfection, Zesco came to us in the first half so it is good when you plan for the game. In the second half we made some substitutions because that was our game plan and exactly that is what we did in Mufulira. Amity came from the bench, he scored, that was wonderful,” Mutapa said.

Meanwhile, action continues on Sunday when defending champions Power Dynamos host Nchanga Rangers in Kitwe.
