Mpongwe West Member of Parliament Emmanuel Kasambo has donated mealie meal to over 1,000 vulnerable people in Munkumpu Ward of Mpongwe District.
The donation comprised over 700 bags of 25kg mealie meal and over 300 bags of 10kg distributed to elderly women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable households.
Mr Kasambo said the gesture was to thank the people of Munkumpu for voting and for supporting President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND in the just ended general elections.
He said the UPND government remains committed to leaving no one behind under the Grow Zambia Agenda.
“This is a token of appreciation for standing with President Hakainde Hichilema and voting for development. We have deliberately included our mothers and our disabled brothers and sisters because inclusive development is at the heart of the UPND agenda,” Mr Kasambo said.
Meanwhile, Mr Kasambo witnessed the handover of five wheelchairs donated by the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) to physically challenged persons in the ward.
The beneficiaries thanked Mr Kasambo and ZAPD, saying the support will go a long way in cushioning their welfare and improving mobility.
