THE United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Mbala Main Congregation is this Saturday set to plant over 700 pine trees.

UCZ Mbala Main Congregation Minister-in-Charge, Reverend Agness Zimba, has since challenged the church leadership to take a leading role in the tree planting exercise.

Rev Zimba made the call during a Pastoral Council meeting held over the weekend, where she emphasised the importance of environmental conservation.

She said the planting of pine trees will not only contribute to environmental protection but also provide a potential source of income for the Church in the future.

“Tree planting is important because it will help us conserve the environment, protect our Church infrastructure and generate income for the Church in the future,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rev Zimba has urged the Church Health Committee to continue conducting health talks during Sunday services to sensitise congregants on hygiene and cleanliness.
