LIKUMBI Lyamize Cultural Association has urged the ethnic groups to stick to their traditions and champion their culture.

Likumbi Lyamize Cultural Association Chairperson, Prince Brian Kambeu says preserving culture plays a vital role in promoting national identity and unity.

Mr Kambeu has encouraged all the ethnic groups to stick to their traditions and champion their culture.

Mr Kambeu highlighted that it should be every Zambian’s responsibility to ensure that Zambia’s rich cultural heritage is not lost amid modernisation.

He emphasised that abuse of makishi in some areas has disheartened the chief of the Luvale people, hence the prince has urged those practicing the vice to respect tradition and culture.

Mr Kambeu also disclosed that the rich culture of the Likumbi Lyamize ceremony has economically contributed massively in the tourism sector.
