Former Zambia National Team Head Coach and FAZ Technical Director Honour Janza has been appointed as the new Technical Director for Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
Janza will work with South African Coach Steve Barker at Simba.
Simba has announced that it had reached an agreement to hire the 66-year-old Zambian to strengthen its technical bench for domestic and CAF Champions League campaigns.
“The club management has reached an agreement to appoint Honour Janza (66), a Zambian national, as the new Technical Director,” the club said in a statement.
“Janza’s arrival is aimed at strengthening the technical bench under Coach Steve Barker to improve the team’s efficiency for both domestic competitions and the CAF Champions League.”
Janza brings vast continental experience, holding a UEFA B Licence and a CAF A Licence.
He is no stranger to top-level football, having served as Assistant Coach of the Chipolopolo between 2011 and 2014, a period when Zambia dominated African football, and later as Head Coach of the senior team from 2014 to 2015.
The veteran tactician also served as Technical Director of the Football Association of Zambia – FAZ – for eight years from 2009 to 2017, while simultaneously handling the Zambia Under-20.
His club CV includes stints as Head Coach of Zesco United, Red Arrows, Eswatini’s Mbabane Swallows, and Tanzania’s Namungo FC, as well as Technical Director roles at NAPSA Stars and most recently Zesco United from 2023 to 2026.
The move marks a return to Tanzanian football for Janza, who previously coached Namungo FC in the 2021-2022 season.
Janza has previously served as Tanzania National Team interim Head Coach.
