Chipolopolo striker Patson Daka is back on the pitch at German club Hamburg after a one-month injury lay-off.

This is a major boost for Zambia ahead of their third 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi on 13th November at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Daka on Tuesday night featured in Hamburg’s 3-1 DFB Cup second-round loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Zambian forward came off the bench to play the later stages of the match as Frankfurt booked their place in the last 16.

He played a part when Hamburg scored their consolation goal.

Hamburg pulled a goal back on 79 minutes when Daka shot from the right side of the box, the ball spilling from keeper Noah Atubolu straight into the path of Moffi, who tapped in from close range to make it 3-1.

Daka had a late effort saved by Atubolu in stoppage time as Hamburg pushed for a way back, but the visitors held on.

Daka suffered the injury while playing for Zambia in the 3-1 loss to Algeria on 25th September on day one of the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

The striker missed Zambia’s 2-0 home win over Togo in Ndola on day two.

Daka has featured in all four of Hamburg’s Bundesliga matches since his summer arrival from Leicester City.

The 27-year-old is yet to score in the Bundesliga.
