Chambeshi Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (ChWSSC) has commenced emergency rehabilitation works on five leaking elevated water storage steel tanks in Mbala District.

The company says the works are aimed at improving the reliability of water supply services to customers in the area.

In a press statement issued by Company Public Relations Officer, Tisa Banda and made available to the media Mbala today, Ms Banda said the rehabilitation works are intended to address leakages, structural defects and corrosion affecting the tanks.

Ms Banda disclosed that the water utility company has engaged Kenval Construction and General Dealers Limited to undertake the works at a contract value of 58,000 Kwacha, funded through operational funds.

“The rehabilitation works are aimed at ensuring that the tanks are safe and fit for operation, this will improve the reliability of water supply services to our customers,” Ms Banda said.

She has explained that the rehabilitation works are expected to be completed within four weeks.

Ms Banda added that the rehabilitated tanks will subsequently undergo testing and commissioning to confirm their suitability for operation.

The Public Relations Officer said the rehabilitation forms part of the company’s efforts to maintain and improve water supply infrastructure and provide reliable and quality water supply services to its customers.
