Police in Chadiza are investigating a case of defilement involving a 15-year-old girl of Chief Mulolo’s area in Chadiza District in Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba has confirmed the development to the media.
Mr Mweemba said the matter was reported to Chadiza Police Station on October 29, 2026 by the victim’s 65-year-old grandmother.
“Brief facts of the matter are that on October 29, 2026 around 22:00 hours, the complainant and her family were outside their house chatting when the suspect identified as Jackson Banda joined them,” he said.
He said other family members later got tired and went inside the house.
The grandmother however, later noticed that the girl was missing.
He said family members started searching for her and after some time she returned home and disclosed what had happened after being questioned.
“The matter was then reported to police, a medical report form was issued and a docket opened,” Mr Mweemba said.
“Investigations into the matter have been instituted and no arrest has been made yet,” he added.
