Activista Zambia a youth-led Solwezi based organisation in North-Western Province has welcomed President Hakainde Hichilema’s pronouncement that Government plans to establish skills training centres in every district to support the Grow Zambia Agenda.
In an interview with the in Solwezi today, Activista Zambia Provincial Chairperson, Asa Lukamata, called on stakeholders to support the initiative to ensure its successful implementation.
Mr Lukamata said the initiative will also improve access to skills training by reducing the distances young people have to travel to access such services.
He said the establishment of skills training centres will promote entrepreneurship, create employment opportunities and empower young people and other citizens with practical skills.
Mr Lukamata noted that skills training is essential in promoting self-reliance, employment, innovation and economic development.
“Creating skills training centres in all districts will not only improve access to training institutions but also supplement Government’s efforts to create jobs for young people across the country,” he said.
Mr Lukamata added that the initiative will promote inclusion and ensure equitable access to skills training opportunities for citizens across the country.
During his address to Parliament last Friday, President Hichilema announced that the Government will ensure every district has a skills training centre to support the implementation of the Grow Zambia Agenda.
The President also assured the Nation that the Government will continue providing student loans and meal allowances to eligible students in public universities.
