JOB OPPORTUNITY Lubambe Copper Mine Limited (LCML) owns and operates the Lubambe Underground Copper Mine located in Chililabombwe District of the Copperbelt Province in Zambia. The Mine which commenced operations in 2012 is situated approximately 468 kilometres North of the Capital City of Lusaka, 152 Kilometres from Ndola and approximately 40 Kilometres from Chingola. Lubambe Copper Mine sits on an area of approximately 58.1 square kilometres and comprises an existing underground mine, characterised by two distinct limbs (the East and South Limbs) and a processing Plant with a capacity to process up to 2.4 million tonnes per annum. LCML places the highest priority on safety with a world-class safety system in place and understands its obligations to carry out mining in a sustainable manner. LCML seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position: VENTILATION TECHNICIAN (X1) This position reports to the Ventilation Engineer. Core Purpose of the Position Plan and ensure implementation of long- and short-term efficient ventilation system at the mine to forestall safe environmental conditions in working places. Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPAIs): To maintain adequate ventilation in working places underground. Supervising installations and maintenance of ventilation systems. Carry out regular underground audits in Production and Development stopes and headings respectively. Basic understanding of cost on ventilation accessories and avoidance of wastage e.g. ventilation ductings, fans, seals. Ensure that correct ventilation ducts installation is followed as per ventilation standard. Inspect all primary ventilation infrastructure underground and on surface and report all deviations to the ventilation engineers. Assist the Ventilation Engineer to conduct vent flow surveys. Assist the Ventilation Engineer to conduct blast re-entry surveys. Mentor and train the ventilations crews. Perform diesel and dust sampling underground. Academic Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 Certificate. Valid blasting licence for mining operations. Computer literate, proficient in the use of Excel & Word. Able to multitask. Sense of urgency to meet targets. Staff Learner with at least two years’ experience in an underground work environment. Basic knowledge of Mine Ventilation.
