Job Title: Safety Officer

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Officer to champion a strong safety culture within our organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in implementing and reviewing our health and safety policies, with a strong focus on field operations, safety compliance, and fleet safety

Key Responsibilities

Policy Implementation: Develop, promote, and ensure strict adherence to company occupational health and safety (OHS) policies across all office and field environments.
Fleet & Asset Safety: Conduct regular inspections and thorough documentation of company assets, with a specialized focus on PPE, tools, and vehicles to ensure safe operational standards.
Field Inspections: Routinely inspect active fiber installation sites and work practices to identify hazards and ensure prompt corrective actions.
Non-Conformance Management: Ensure all safety non-conformances, incident reports, and near-misses are investigated and closed out effectively.
Training & Onboarding: Conduct comprehensive safety inductions for all new employees, contractors, and field technicians.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for safety representatives, addressing concerns and coordinating swift resolutions.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Assist management and operations teams in the creation, review, and consolidation of safety-related SOPs.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all safety activities, incidents, and audits, delivering periodic progress reports to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Professional Qualification: Minimum of a Diploma in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
Experience: At least 1 year of proven experience in a safety role (experience within telecommunications, construction, or fleet/logistics operations is a strong advantage).
Professional Affiliation: Valid membership with a relevant professional safety body.

Key Competencies

Ability to work independently and manage safety compliance across multiple remote work sites.
Strong knowledge of road safety, defensive riding principles (for motorbike fleets), and hazard identification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and training.
