The United Party for National Development (UPND) leadership in Chongwe East Constituency has urged party members in the area to rally behind President Hakainde Hichilema as he leads the country in his second term.
Chongwe East Constituency Chairperson, Boniface Katite indicated that President Hichilema demonstrated his commitment to uplift the livelihood of citizens in the country during his first term of office.
Mr Katite said the commitment demonstrated by President Hichilema should motivate party members rally behind his leadership.
The Chongwe East Constituency Chairperson further implored party members in the constituency to remain loyal to President Hakainde Hichilema and to the party leadership.
Mr Katite said this when he addressed Chongwe East Constituency UPND members during an election victory party, held at Chilyabale Primary School ground.
And Chongwe East Constituency Information and Publicity Secretary, Trevor Muyoma called on party members to work with all UPND elected and appointed civic leaders in the district.
Mr Muyoma stated that supporting the civic leaders will help them to deliver the desired development to local communities in the area.
“Now that elections are over, let us remain strong and united as a party in Chongwe East constituency, and we need to support our mayor and UPND councilors as they work in order for them to lobby for the desired development to our communities,” he said.
He encouraged party leadership in the constituency to ensure that all party structures remain active at all times and support President Hichilema as he leads the country.
Meanwhile, Chongwe Mayor Fredrick Sashi has assured residents that he will ensure the mayoral office remains easily accessible to members of the public at all times.
Mr Sashi charged that residents in the district could not easily access the office of the mayor and a number of offices at Chongwe Municipal Council in the past.
He indicated that residents can now come to his office to consult on issues affecting their wellbeing and report any concerns regarding their communities.
“We want the office of the mayor to be easily accessible by members of the public. This is why I will run the office of the mayor with an open-door policy. People do not have to go through so many offices to access me,” Mr. Sashi said.
