In a press release issued on 4th October 2026, Chief Communications Specialist at State House Clayson Hamasaka said the decision was made pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.
“The President has expressed gratitude to Ms. Munganga for her service to the Government of the Republic of Zambia and wishes her well in her future endeavours,” Hamasaka stated.
Ms. Munganga was appointed to the position in November 2025, having been elevated from her role as Central Province Police Commissioner. She was appointed alongside Fred Hamaamba as Deputy Inspector General in charge of Operations.
Before her appointment as DIG, Ms. Munganga served in various command positions, including as Western Province deputy commanding officer.
No reason has been given for her removal and no successor has been named yet.
