Nkana have a golden chance to go top of Stream A – even if only for 24 hours – when they host Kansanshi Dynamos at Nkana Stadium in Wusakile on Wednesday afternoon.
Kalampa sit fourth with 10 points, just two points behind leaders Konkola Blades, who only play on Thursday. A win over Kansanshi will take Nkana to the summit.
Kansanshi are sixth with five points from five matches and are desperate to start picking up points away from home.
Nkana assistant coach Donashano Malama says the team is ready, with focus on recovery and freshness after the goalless Kitwe Derby against Power Dynamos.
“The preparations have gone well so far. We prioritised the recovery and freshness of the players. We also took some time to analyse, reflect and identify areas that needed to improve. I can confidently say that we are ready for tomorrow’s game,” Malama told Nkana FC Media.
Nkana remain unbeaten at home this season, having beaten Makeni All Stars and Nchanga Rangers in Wusakile.
“The team is very motivated, knowing that we haven’t dropped points at home. Going into tomorrow’s game, the players are equally motivated, coming from the performance in the derby,” Malama added.
Kansanshi coach Dennis Makinka is demanding more gusto from his players on the road.
“We are preparing the boys to begin picking results from away games. We are telling the boys to replicate the same energy shown in home matches when we play away,” Makinka said.
“Nkana will be playing at home, so we need to be cautious and manage their quickie frontline. We will be ready for the match.”
Meanwhile, Zanaco are hosting FC Muza in the other midweek Stream A match.
In Stream B, Red Arrows are at home to Nkwazi in Lusaka derby as Kabwe Warriors host Roan United in Kabwe.
