He was a pioneering military leader and accomplished pilot. The Zambia Air Force said Zuze served the Republic of Zambia “with honour, dedication and distinction.” As the first Zambian to command the service, he played a significant role in the early transformation and development of the Air Force and helped lay the foundation for the modern force. “His passing is a profound loss to ZAF, the Defence Force and the nation at large,” the Air Force said in a statement. “His legacy of leadership, patriotism, professionalism and selfless service to the Republic will remain an enduring part of the history of the Air Force.” Zambia Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Oscar Msitu Nyoni conveyed condolences to the bereaved family, Air Force personnel, relatives and friends.
