KING’S SPOKESPERSON PERCY SIMELANE CLARIFIES ON DELEGATION ATTENDING FUNERAL: Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo had the best interest of emaSwati at heart, wanted to invest in key project.
MBABANE: Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson says the late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo had the best interest of emaSwati at heart.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Friday morning when asked about the King’s delegation that attended the funeral of the Zimbabwean businessman who died in a helicopter crash, Simelane said even though he “has no details” of the delegation, Wicknell Chivayo had the best interest of emaSwati.
“To the best of my knowledge the late Zimbabwean businessman was a potential investor who had offered to fund a key project for the benefit of the Swati people. He was also intending to Iive in Eswatini. He however he tragically died before his dreams came to fruition. I have no official information on the alleged 7- man delegation that attended Mr Chivayo’s funeral this week. In this country mourning someone’s death or attending their funeral is voluntary”, said the King’s Spokesperson.
The King was represented by a powerful delegation led by Manzini Regional Administrator (RA) Prince Gija during the funeral of the late businessman held in Zimbabwe, Chivayo died in a helicopter crash last week
Speaking during the funeral this week, Prince Gija said, the delegation of seven (7) people including Public Service Minister Mabulala Maseko was commanded by both the King and the Queen Mother to convey their condolences following the death of the businessman.
“Their Majesties have commanded us to convey their condolences on the passing away of Chivayo. This goes to his family, the condolences, President of this country whom we understand, they worked together in developing the country, they were very close as partners. The people of Zimbabwe has lost a champion”, said the King’s representative.- Swaziland News
