KELVIN KAUNDA PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO ASSAULT CHARGE

Lima Member of Parliament Kelvin Kaunda has pleaded not guilty to one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 248 of the Penal Code.

Mr Kaunda entered the plea before Lusaka Magistrate Mutinta Mwenya after confirming that he understood the charge brought against him.

It is alleged that Mr Kaunda, on 7th August 2026, in Lusaka District, assaulted Anthony Mwamba, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

When asked how many witnesses the State intends to call in support of its case, the prosecution informed the court that it would rely on five witnesses.

The matter has since been adjourned to 17th November 2026 for possible commencement of trial, with Mr Kaunda remaining on constitutional bail.
