Permanent Secretary for Special Duties at Cabinet Office, Lackson Kasonka, says that the Government’s Grow Zambia agenda depends heavily on effective supply chain management and transparent public spending.

Speaking at the 8th graduation ceremony in Lusaka, Professor Kasonka underscored the importance of procurement in the economic growth of the nation.

“Your presence here is evidence of hard work, discipline, perseverance, and a commitment to advancing your knowledge and professional competence,” he said.

Professor Kasonka added that procurement professionals must act as strategic partners who champion fair competition.

He then commended ZIPS for its continued efforts to develop competent, ethical and professionally accountable procurement and supply practitioners.

Professor Kasonka indicated that Linking educational knowledge with practical institutional needs help to optimise resource utilisation and improve service delivery.

Meanwhile, ZIPS acting President, Polite Hamaleka highlighted that procurement must be integrated into strategic planning rather than treated merely as an administrative afterthought.

Mr Hamaleka urged the graduates to contribute to the growth of Zambia’s economy.

He then thanked council members, management, lecturers, parents and sponsors for supporting the professional development of the graduating class.

Speaking earlier, ZIPS Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Henry Lukwesa said the institute’s theme emphasises the vital role of procurement excellence in national development.

He encouraged the graduates to commit to protecting their integrity by rejecting corruption.

The Zambia Institute of Procurement and Supply held its 8th Graduation Ceremony under the theme: from learning to leadership: Procurement excellence for Zambia’s economic shift from stabilisation to growth.
